- Structural steelwork
Project Description
Hambleton Steel successfully delivered the complete structural steel package for the landmark Les Nicolles School development in Guernsey.
The scheme comprised two interconnected schools within a single 240m-long structure: St Sampson’s Secondary School and Le Murier Special Needs School, each with distinct layouts and functions but sharing central facilities such as a swimming pool, sports hall, and assembly spaces.
Working to complex design requirements and tight island logistics, Hambleton managed the transport of all steelwork from the UK mainland, optimizing loads and sequencing to fit shipping constraints.
Challenges l Solutions
The erection was completed in three carefully phased stages, coordinated around limited local crane capacities and ongoing concrete works. Spanning up to 19m over the swimming pool and sports hall, the project demonstrated Hambleton’s expertise in precision steel erection, logistical planning, and collaborative problem-solving.
