Scope of work:

  • Structural Steelwork
  • Metal Decking
  • Westock Beams

Hambleton Steel delivered a full design and build steelwork package for Bowmer & Kirkland at Office 3, St Paul’s Place, Sheffield. The project involved approximately 420 tonnes of structural steelwork, alongside metal decking and Westok cellular beams.

A key part of Hambleton Steel’s scope was the detailed design and coordination of Westok beams and embed connections, providing an efficient structural solution for the open-plan office accommodation and integration of building services. The project demonstrates Hambleton Steel’s capability to deliver complex commercial steelwork packages from design through to construction, working closely with the main contractor and wider project team.

The project was delivered within a restricted site boundary, requiring careful planning and coordination of the steelwork erection sequence. Tower cranes were used to erect the structural steel, with the design and sequencing taking account of the site constraints and available lifting arrangements.

Hambleton Steel also designed for temporary loads associated with MEWPs at 8th floor level, ensuring the structure could safely accommodate the access equipment required during construction. This demonstrates Hambleton Steel’s ability to consider both permanent and temporary construction requirements within the overall design and delivery of a project.

This project demonstrates Hambleton Steel’s capability to deliver complex commercial steelwork packages, combining detailed design, technical coordination and efficient site delivery to meet the demands of challenging construction environments.
