Hambleton Steel is delivering a nearly 400-tonne design-and-build structural steelwork package as part of the £50 million transformation of Freshney Place in Grimsby.
Led by North East Lincolnshire Council and delivered by GMI Construction Group, the regeneration is transforming the existing shopping centre into a modern mixed-use destination, including a new five-screen cinema, food and market hall, commercial and leisure space and improved public realm.
Our Scope
Hambleton Steel is responsible for the design, fabrication, supply and erection of the structural steelwork, including:
- Nearly 400 tonnes of structural steel
- The new five-screen cinema steel frame
- Structural alterations to the existing centre
- Steelwork for new extensions
- Site erection and installation
Working within an existing town-centre environment requires careful coordination between the new and retained structures. Our design-and-build approach allows us to work closely with the wider project team to manage interfaces and deliver an efficient, buildable steelwork solution.
Freshney Place demonstrates Hambleton Steel’s capability in delivering large-scale structural steelwork for complex regeneration and refurbishment projects, combining new construction with alterations to existing buildings.
