Fosse Shopping Park is one of Britain’s largest out of town retail parks and it is situated on the southern edge of Leicester.

It attracts 11 million visitors per year and the proposed Fosse Park West and Food Court is a significant extension of the site. It will take over an adjacent site which was formerly Everards Brewery.

The new Fosse Park West and Food Court will consist of two anchor units, an A1 retail terrace, two A3 pod units, with a dedicated main customer car park, service yards and extensive public realm and Section 278 works.

The Food Court development will require the demolition of an existing building and replacement with a new, part single-storey and part two-storey steel-framed building to provide four Class A1 retail units and 15 Class A3 food/restaurant units. These will range from fast food to casual dining and restaurants, together with a management suite and customer facilities. The new development will add 140,000 square foot of new retail and restaurant space.

Bowmer and Kirkland were the main contractor for the project and they were responsible for delivering the Fosse Park West and Food Court expansion. Mellor Bromley, a mechanical services provider, was awarded a contract by Bowmer + Kirkland to provide mechanical services such as air conditioning, water services, ventilation, sanitary ware, a sprinkler system, and above-ground drainage.

Working alongside Bowmer and Kirkland, Hambleton Steel delivered the structural steelwork for two areas of the development. We also providing the metal decking and open grid flooring for this project.

Working with Hambleton Steel on Manchester City Campus College was an enjoyable experience for ourselves and the wider design team. Hambleton brought their knowledge and skill by collaboratively working with the whole team from RIBA Stages 2/3 until completion by problem solving, giving advise on buildability and bringing efficiencies to the design to ensure it maintained within budget.
