Sunderland City Council have launched a £42m plan to redevelop the site of the Vaux Brewery and create a vibrant, mixed use space.
We were delighted to be involved in this project, creating a bespoke steel framed design – as well as fabricating, supplying and erecting the steelwork on-site.
Our Senior Contract Manager, Doug Willis was quoted on the topic of the twin transfer beams which allow for a column free council chamber:
“The beams are the heaviest steel elements on the job and they been installed in pairs. However, they were erected individually and then tied together using a bespoke design end-connection detail”.
