Location: Site Based

MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB (Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)

  • Site erection planning.
  • Control of all site sub-contractor activities
  • Work allocation.
  • Inspection of work during and at completion.
  • Liaise with Client’s personnel to ensure site programme is achieved
  • Attend site safety and progress meetings.

The role

Duties/Responsibilities (brief description)

  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Supporting the Contracts Managers in implementing the necessary safe systems of work and the controls identified in the Site Specific Method Statement and Risk Assessments.
  • Providing supervision to site operatives.
  • Consulting with appointed site SHE representatives.
  • Seeking advice where necessary from the SHEQ Coordinator.
  • All requirements of the SHEQ management systems are applied and that all personnel reporting to them consistently follow all SHEQ related instructions.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Ensuring that all staff in the area under their control are properly trained and work in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Promptly reporting all defects, faults, accidents, incidents and “near misses”, and environmental incidents to their Manager.
  • Maintaining records as directed and monitoring these as appropriate.
  • Co-ordination and submission of Hambleton Steel Limited daywork sheets to Clients.
  • Ensuring all aspects of works are ‘signed-off’ by the Client using appropriate ‘handover sheet’.
  • Support, by encouragement and example, is given to the provision for a safe and healthy working environment.

REQUIREMENTS TO CARRY OUT JOB

  • IOSH Managing Safely -Desirable requirement 
  • Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme SSSTS -Desirable requirement 
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role -Essential requirement
  • Must be able to read drawings -Essential requirement
  • Have a good level of computer literacy (E-mails/Excel spreadsheets/Word documents etc.) -Essential requirement

  • Be willing and able to attend training courses, when deemed appropriate, to gain the necessary statutory levels of certification to meet the requirement of the position.
  • Be well organised and be able to prioritise workload
  • Be prepared to travel within the UK
