MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB (Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)

  • Responsible for compiling estimates for structural steelwork and other sub-contract works for potential clients and working out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly.

The role

MAIN DUTIES (brief description)

  • This job involves assessing material, labour and equipment required and analysing different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Enter data into Estimating Software.
  • As well as getting the best price, the Estimator must ensure that the contract can be carried out profitably.
  • Co-ordinate with other technical services departments.
  • Liaise with Clients, Consultants, Quantity Surveyors and other third parties.
  • Organise appropriate tender enquiries.
  • Administrate correspondence and tender documents.
  • Collection and distribution of feedback.

About you

Experience required

  • Employee to have several years in a similar role within the Construction Industry. -Essential requirement

Any particular aptitude/skill required:

  • Must have strong maths and IT skills, a strong problem-solving ability and keen attention to detail. -Essential requirement
  • Must be able to communicate well, verbally and in writing. -Essential requirement

Personal characteristics required:

  • Be well organised, be able to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines. -Essential requirement

Working in different locations: May be required to attend meetings with potential clients within the UK.
