We are currently recruiting for 2 apprentices to work in partnership with us and our training provider, South West Durham Training to complete Level 3 BTEC Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

The roles will be full-time, Monday - Friday 6.00am - 2.30pm with day-release once a week attending college.

The role

The main duties and responsibilities you will undertake in the role will be as follows:

  • Plan fabrication by studying routing, materials, specifications, drawings, and welding parameters.
  • Steelwork welding, verifying settings by measuring positions and adhering to international standards. 
  • Maintain specifications by adhering to weld procedure specifications; taking measurements; detecting equipment malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting equipment in use; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor equipment usage, follow manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. 
  • Document action by completing material and welding location plans.
  • Complete weld, consumable and grinding logs.

Education requirements

  • Essential - GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade 4)
  • Desired - GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 5) or Physics (Grade 5), other Engineering qualification (Grade Pass)
