A joint venture for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue and Derbyshire Police, we were instructed with the structural steelwork frame together with metal decking and PC stairs for a brand-new training facility.
The premises include a new two-storey training building with an attached vehicle garage and associated training buildings for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, along with fire behaviour simulation training facilities, training towers and search and rescue facilities.
The firing range had to have protective internal cladding and a very low air flow. The structure in the firing range was designed to make sure it was suitable for shooting purposes and in line with police training requirements. The building had protective sheets inside to make sure it could absorb the bullets. The floors also had to be jointless.

One of the reasons I chose an apprenticeship was because I could earn and learn at the same time. Working at Hambleton Steel has provided me with day-to-day training and experience which has helped me understand the industry and business.
Working with Hambleton Steel on Manchester City Campus College was an enjoyable experience for ourselves and the wider design team. Hambleton brought their knowledge and skill by collaboratively working with the whole team from RIBA Stages 2/3 until completion by problem solving, giving advise on buildability and bringing efficiencies to the design to ensure it maintained within budget.
They’ve done a cracking job on here for us and I personally would have no hesitation in using them again.
